Privacy Policy
Referral Network ("we", "us") runs a job and referral network at referralnetwork.in. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who sees it and what choices you have. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law.
1. What we collect
- Account details: name, email address, mobile number (if you add one), password (stored only as a one-way hash), and your sign-in method (email, mobile or Google).
- Profile and resume: headline, summary, work history, education, skills, expected salary, notice period, location, photo, links, and the resume file you upload.
- Verification documents: work, education or identity documents you choose to upload so our team can verify your profile.
- Activity: jobs you view, save, apply to or refer for; referral requests; messages and notes you send through the product; support and issue reports.
- Employers and agencies: company details, jobs posted, candidates you manage, and submissions you make.
- Technical data: device and browser type, approximate usage statistics, and security logs. We store a sign-in token in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in.
2. Why we use it
- To create your account, sign you in and keep it secure.
- To show you relevant jobs, calculate match and trust scores, and run referrals and applications.
- To send you emails, in-app notifications, push notifications and Telegram messages you ask for or that are needed to run the service, such as verification codes and application updates.
- To verify documents, review suspicious job posts, prevent fraud and abuse, and respond to issues.
- To improve the product, using aggregate usage information.
3. Who sees your data
- Employers, recruiters and agencies see your profile and resume when you apply, when someone refers you, or when you share your profile. Your contact details may be hidden until you apply or the sender unlocks them, as shown in the product.
- People you choose: if you use "Easy apply", we email your profile summary and resume to the employer's email address on the job, and copy you. If someone shares your profile with a hiring manager, that manager must verify their email to see the full profile.
- Referrers you ask see your name and the message you write.
- Our team (super admin) can see accounts, uploaded documents and reports for verification and support.
- Service providers who process data for us: Google (Google sign-in; Google Workspace email delivery; and Google Gemini or another AI provider if you use the AI features), Cloudflare (network delivery and security), Telegram (if you use our Telegram bot) and push-notification services of your browser or phone.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We may share data if the law requires it or to protect users and the service from fraud or harm.
4. AI features
If you use "Check my fit with AI" or "Search with AI", the text of your profile and resume (or the search you type) is sent to an AI provider to produce the result. By default this is Google Gemini using our API key, under Google's standard terms, which may allow Google to keep and review the content. If you add your own AI key in Account settings, the request goes to your chosen provider under your own account and terms. Your own key is stored encrypted and used only for your requests. AI answers can be wrong; they are guidance, not decisions. Employers do not receive AI results about you.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage to keep you signed in and remember settings. We do not use advertising cookies.
6. How long we keep data
We keep your data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we must keep some records by law or to resolve disputes and prevent fraud.
7. Your choices and rights
- View and edit your profile and settings in the app.
- Turn notifications on or off in Settings, and use the unsubscribe link in emails.
- Ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, or withdraw consent, by emailing referrals@referralnetwork.in. We will respond within a reasonable time.
- If you are not satisfied, contact our grievance contact below. You may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
8. Security
Passwords are stored as hashes, connections use HTTPS, uploaded documents are not publicly listed, and access is limited. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep it private.
9. Children
Referral Network is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email.
11. Contact and grievance
